Topic: Intergenerational wealth transfer disputes: lessons from the boardroom and courtroom for family business advisors
Poorly planned transitions can lead to costly disputes, fractured familial relationships, and in some cases the eventual collapse of otherwise successful family enterprises.
This practical session draws on real-life case studies to explore the themes, risks, and complexities of transgenerational wealth transfer arising from the courtroom and the boardroom. We will examine common points of failure, the early warning signs family business advisors should watch for, and the practical steps that you can take to assist families to avoid and mitigate disputes. Where it is predictable, it is preventable!
You will walk away better equipped to identify potential issues, ask the right questions, assist business families to engage in proper succession planning and adopt governance measures that future proof their group and collaborate effectively with legal and other advisors to support your clients through this critical phase.
Key Takeaways:
- Equip advisors to identify recurring risks, themes and pitfalls from real life case studies to better educate and service family businesses.
- Learn why traditional wills and estate planning fails family businesses
- Allow your clients to heed the lessons from the case studies and ensure effective governance and succession plans are adopted.
